WHALE: foldaway backbender


The use of the "Whale" backbender is an excellent way of practicing supporting backbends. Complete relaxation in the pose is possible and the the backbender is wide enough so that the entire back and spine are fully supported. The chest and lungs are expanded during use which allows for easier breathing. Using the backbender for support can also assist in the relief of sciatic or other spinal pain.

The differing curves at each end of the backbender enables the student to practice:

Viparita Dandasana (with or without baddha konasana) Ustrasana, Setu Bhandasana, Pincha Mayurasana and drop backs, seated poses reclining back or extending forwards. 

Folds in half for easy storage.

Construction: Ply wood and Recycled Timbers with a natural oil finish.
