The benefit of the 1 metre elastic strap is not having the tail of the strap to contend with.

Very useful around the arms in Adho Mukha Svanasana (downward facing dog pose), Adho Mukha Vrksasana (full arm balance) and around the legs in Uttanasana. Also using it like a belt around the hips or centre buttocks to hug the muscle to the bone.
